life lately.

{dueling piano bars}

{mardi gras king cake baby finding}

{volunteering at the bridge bunch}

{domesticating myself 101: THE BEST - and easiest - taco soup}

{the coolest concept on this side of nashville}

i finally went out this weekend, only to have my 100+ pictures deleted by some chick at a piano bar downtown. can i catch a break? the answer is yes, because i also found the baby in the king cake that my suite ate this weekend.  yes, i did run around the party harassing anyone and everyone who i thought was guilty of stealing my tiny baby (and in that state, i'm pretty sure EVERYONE had taken it), but i also am now mardi gras Queen. according to wikipedia, that means that not only do i throw the next mardi gras party, but my colleagues must buy me lunch once a month for the next year.  take note, roommates.

two cool new-to-me concepts here in nash:
  1. the bridge bunch under the jefferson bridge in downtown nashville.  after corresponding with a man who signs his emails "your friend, pastor bob!!!! :)," my ASB group ventured downtown to serve food to the homeless in nashville on sunday afternoon.  the bridge formed a windtunnel in the 30 degrees whether, but who was i to complain - pastor bob and friends turned out to be such inspiring tattoo // rock-and-roll loving volunteers; the men, women, and children we were serving were so sweet and grateful; and they even offered up their jackets to a few girls in my group who were shivering through the cold.  a humbling, wonderful experience to say the least.
  2. seed money suppers, a new concept by community food advocates here in nashville.  you pay $10 bucks to receive a meal of bread and soup, listen to local organizations and entrepreneurs pitch their food proposals for the city, and vote for your fave.  finally, all of the proceeds made from the dinner go to the new project.  SO AWESOME!
only 4 more months in this crazy city. preach, steve:

"your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.  don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking.  don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your inner voice.  and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.  they somehow already know what you truly want to become.  everything else is secondary."
