annecy

{a walk through the sunday market // discovering my new favorite fruit: mirabelles!}

{soaking in the iconic canals of annecy}

{bought tickets for what we thought was a cool castle that we could explore... happened upon a bird and fish museum instead...}

{unreal views from the crystal clear waters of lac d'annecy}

hailed as a "fairy-tale like town" by multiple online travelogues, i decided i had to make the 1-hour trip back to france while i was in geneva to visit the little town of annecy.  the tiny, canal-lined, cobblestone streets looked just like what i had pictured in my head, but the place was PACKED!  not what i expected of a quaint village in the middle-of-nowhere france.  we arrived to annecy around 11 am sunday morning and happened upon a cute little market in the center of town.  we feasted on speculoos crepes (how i've missed this miracle spread) and mirabelles, a small yellow fruit similar to a plum.  in the afternoon, some of us lounged alongside the lake as others swam in the crystal-clear freezing waters (ain't no florida girl got time for that) and soaked in the cool breeze coming in from the mountains as 80-year-old women sunbathed 5 meters away in the nude.  without the latter sight, a sunday that i would definitely repeat.

in other news, my undergrad started school today and i'm getting emails about sending in forms for my TA position starting this fall, so next semester is getting REAL.  getting excited for a little taste of real life again :)
